Conventional To serve hot: Preheat oven to 350°F. Place ham on a rack inside of a deep, oven-safe cooking pan. Fill bottom of pan with 3 - 4 cups of water. Completely cover ham with tin foil.
Bake ham to an internal temperature of 145°F.
For a flavorful finish, one half hour before end of heating time, score fat and insert whole cloves. Brush ham with brown sugar glaze (2/3 cup brown sugar + 1/4 cup apple cider) if desired. Bake for the remaining 30 minutes.
