DVR ALERT: Jones Dairy Farm Shines in Television Show Featuring Fort Atkinson

FORT ATKINSON (April 14, 2010) - It’s lights, camera and action as Jones Dairy Farm and Fort Atkinson take center stage on an upcoming episode of the Emmy-nominated Discover Wisconsin television series.

 

“Fort Atkinson – Rock River’s Playground” is set for broadcast in eight Midwest states April 24 and 25, 2010.  In southern Wisconsin it will be broadcast Saturday April 24, at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports Net/ComCast, and at 6:30 p.m. on WKOW TV-27 (ABC) in Madison as well as on Sunday April 25 at 9:00 a.m. on WITI TV-6 (FOX) in Milwaukee.

 

The half-hour program provides background on the Jones family’s proud 120+ years in Fort Atkinson and gives you a sneak peak at the Jones Retail Store, located on the Jones property and offering a full array of Jones products and other specialty items from around the state of Wisconsin.  Philip Jones, a professionally trained chef and current president of the company, also shows off his culinary skills with Stephanie Klett, host of Discover Wisconsin and managing director of the Media Network. 

 

Other highlights of the program include water activities on the Rock River, canoeing the Bark River, the downtown Riverwalk, biking and hiking the Glacial River Trail, Tour de Fort, Southern Wisconsin Ice Racing on Lake Koshkonong, the Fort Half Marathon, the Koshkonong Rendezvous, Velvet Lips Lounge, Bar and Grill, Upper Lip, Catfish Alley, Soap and Pepper and Central Coast Restaurant & Dance Club.

 

“We are really excited about the visibility this will give our community,” said Bill Marklein, tourism manager at the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce.  “This will definitely give people a taste of the great things they can see and do when they visit us.”

 

According to statistics from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, the industry generates approximately 13 billion dollars annually.

 

“We’re thrilled to be part of a show that spotlights Fort Atkinson,” said Philip Jones.  “Stephanie Klett and the entire Discover Wisconsin team should be commended on a fantastic job of showcasing all that we have to offer.”
