Jones Dairy Farm Receives Gluten-Free Certification for More Than 200 Products from GFCO

FORT ATKINSON, Wis. - (May 14, 2009) - Jones Dairy Farm, a six generation family business that has been making all natural sausage since 1889, is proud to announce that more than 200 products have been certified gluten-free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), said Philip Jones, Jones Dairy Farm president.

 

The GFCO certification process included the review of all Jones product formulas, ingredients and testing procedures.  In addition, a thorough on-site inspection of the Jones manufacturing facility was conducted.  GFCO sets strict standards that ingredients may not contain more than 10 ppm of gluten, twice as strict as the proposed Food and Drug Administration’s definition for gluten-free.

 

Jones Dairy Farm has a 120-year heritage of producing a wide variety of quality, gluten-free products.  From all natural sausage and Canadian bacon to hams, traditional bacon and liverwurst, Jones currently offers more than 200 gluten-free items available in retail stores, restaurants and other foodservice operations, and through the Jones Online Store at www.jonesdairyfarm.com.   

 

“A gluten-free certification from a reputable organization like GFCO provides consumers with the comfort that a product that claims to be gluten free is indeed gluten free,” said Mr. Jones.  “Consumers will now have the confidence that all Jones gluten-free certified products are a safe and delicious addition to any gluten-free diet.”   Jones Dairy Farm has begun the process of adding the GFCO certification mark to all appropriate packaging.

 
A program of the Gluten Intolerance Group, GFCO provides an independent service to supervise gluten-free food production according to a consistent, defined and science-based standard that is confirmed by field inspections, in order to achieve heightened consumer confidence and safety.  GFCO is “Gluten-free you can easily see” through a trademarked logo on packaging.  Products labeled with the GF certification mark allow consumers to easily identify items that have been independently verified to meet GFCO’s high standards for gluten-free.
