An appealing appetizer or creative way to add bacon to breakfast, these twisted puff pastry straws are delicious and easy to prepare.


 Enjoy these main ingredient substitutions:

1/4 cup brown sugar, divided
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
9 slices Jones Dairy Farm Dry Aged Bacon, uncooked
1/4 cup romano cheese, grated
1/4 teaspoon sweet or hot hungarian paprika
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400°F. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons brown sugar on work surface. Unfold pastry sheet and sprinkle with remaining brown sugar.

Using a rolling pin, roll sheet into a 14x10-inch rectangle. Cut sheet in half lengthwise. Then cut each half into 18 strips, approximately 3/4-inch wide, making a total of 36 strips.

Cut each bacon slice bacon in half lengthwise, then crosswise, making a total of 36 strips. Place one bacon strip on each pastry strip.

Combine cheese and paprika and sprinkle onto strips. Twist each strip and place on parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake for 15 minutes or until pastries are golden brown and bacon is crisp.
