This recipe is made with Jones Boneless Ham.

Family Ham Half
ingredients

For the Waffles:

3 cups buttermilk
6 eggs
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Strata:

12 square waffles, homemade or frozen
1 pound Jones Dairy Farm Boneless Ham, sliced
2-3 cups swiss cheese, shredded
6 eggs
2 cups milk
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, crème fraiche, fresh berries, orange slices, cranberry sauce, raspberry preserves

DIRECTIONS

For the Waffles:

In large mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, butter and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt until just combined; batter should be lumpy. Let batter sit for 5-10 minutes while waffle iron preheats. Cook waffles as directed by waffle iron.

For the Strata:

Spray 9x13-inch casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Place 6 waffles along bottom of casserole dish, top with ham and cheese and remaining 6 waffles. If using frozen waffles, toast them before assembling strata.

In bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Pour egg mixture evenly over waffles. Ensure that eggs have evenly coated all waffles by gently shaking dish from side to side. Cover dish and place in refrigerator for 30 minutes or overnight.

When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F and remove strata from fridge.

Bake on middle rack for 45 minutes, or until eggs are set in center of strata. If waffles begin browning before strata is finished cooking, cover with foil.

Remove from oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes. Serve warm with choice of toppings.
