FSQA Intern

Jones Dairy Farm, a family owned and operated business for over 135 years, is seeking a FSQA Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for a college student looking for an internship in the Food Manufacturing Industry who can demonstrate organization, a high level of accuracy, and attention to detail.

Position Description:

Responsible for assisting the FSQA team and other cross functional teams at Jones Dairy Farm (ex. Process & Innovation, Operations, Continuous Improvement, Sanitation). The intern will be assigned projects to support product and environmental program testing and lab analysis to be completed through the term of the internship. Upon completion of projects, the FSQA Intern will compile and present a report to leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in product and environmental program testing and lab analysis
  • Support FSQA activities such as SOP documentation, traceability, and sensory evaluation
  • Participate in regulatory or compliance audits and help maintain USDA, HACCP and SQF standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing food safety and quality, relating to testing, quality systems, sanitation, auditing, HACCP, training, SQF, suppliers, and other related topics
  • Inputting and analyzing data; document findings, preparing reports and present project outcomes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a professional and cooperative manner
  • Must be willing to work in production environment (refrigerated rooms, freezers) on an as-needed basis
  • Adheres to food safety and worker safety practices as outlined by Jones Dairy Farm

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduated degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.

Experience or Training: Basic understanding of food safety principles and quality control techniques. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols. Good problem-solving, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Willingness to take initiative and ownership with multiple tasks and projects and complete them within outlined deadlines. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Technology/Equipment: Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, TEAMS).

Working Environment:

Work duties can be performed in manufacturing, kitchen, laboratory, or office environment. There will be exposure to production areas requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), uniform or protective clothing, and safety equipment.
