Shipping & Receiving Manager

Jones Dairy Farm, a family owned and operated business for over 135 years, is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who can demonstrate leadership, drive, and a focus on safely supporting shipping & receiving department requirements.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Production Manager, oversee the entire Shipping and Receiving Department. Responsible for planning, directing, and administering all aspects of the Shipping and Receiving Department. This includes requisitioning, receiving and storing materials and supplies, and distributing finished goods. Along with managing supervisors, shipping clerks, and assisting in the supervision of department employees. Setting and measuring shipping/receiving performance metrics (KPI’s). Ensure USDA guidelines are followed. Make recommendations concerning improvements to policies, procedures and techniques to improve efficiency. Problem solving and assisting with troubleshooting issues as they arise.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure employees receive proper training, and enforcement of all warehouse procedures and practices and periodically reporting on activities.
  • Provide proper direction, training, mentoring, and coaching to supervisors.
  • Ensure all work is performed and completed within company quality specifications and USDA guidelines.
  • Ensure consistency between shifts and with company policies and procedures through the supervision of subordinates.
  • Make recommendations concerning improvements to policy, procedures, techniques, facilities, and other matters relative to plant effectiveness.
  • Ensure products are shipped according to established quality standards, products are accounted for according to established standards and all reports are maintained.
  • Ensure department is operating in compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Ensure department operates in an efficient manner (Labor, supplies, warehousing, support of operational departments).
  • Meet quality standards/goals relating to food safety and quality as well as internal and external audit results/improvements.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates effectively with all departments.
  • Must be able to work 10-hour days and 6 to 7-day weeks as needed.
  • Accepts special projects and completes them promptly.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience or Training: Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory/management experience. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Accuracy, confidentiality, efficiency, and professionalism are essential.

Technology/Equipment: Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or Training: Must possess the ability to motivate, coach, and direct people. Experience with conflict resolution and experience working in a union environment.

Technology/Equipment: Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
