What Is the Master Chefs’ Institute?
The Master Chefs’ Institute is an independent organization led by Certified Master Chefs – the highest level of culinary certification in the U.S., with only 74 chefs holding this elite title. MCI evaluates and recognizes exceptional grocery products through one of the most comprehensive testing programs in the industry. Only 20% of all tested products qualify for the MCI Seal of Excellence.
Why the MCI Seal of Excellence Matters
In a national survey of 1,000 consumers, after being informed on the seal’s purpose, 89% said they’d be more likely to purchase a product that displays the MCI Seal of Excellence. This seal signals that a product has passed more than 1,000 individual tests covering:

To qualify, a product must score 80% or higher in every category.
