Sr Lab Analyst

Position Summary:

Cross train in all positions in the Laboratory in order to provide coverage, as needed. Independently take the initiative to ensure the efficiency of the lab by aiding other lab employees and maintaining the general upkeep of the lab. Assist in maintaining Laboratory Quality Management System, including internal auditing program. Serve as the primary internal trainer for Laboratory Methods and SOPs and maintain training verification programs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory duties following approved methods SOPs in an accurate, timely, and economical manner.
  • Perform weekly QC Verification.
  • Complete training assignments to meet JDF and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Assist with ordering and tracking laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain an effective training verification program.
  • Participate in internal audits, as assigned.
  • Cross-train in all positions in the Laboratory to provide coverage, as needed.
  • Flexible hours with occasional weekend work.
  • Minimal overnight travel.
  • Accepts special projects and completes them accurately and timely.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, or in a related field and equivalent experience.
  • Experience or Training: Minimum 2 years of experience in a food laboratory.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and GLPs.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Good problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work in a group setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Technology/Equipment: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate office equipment efficiently. Requires frequent walking, bending, standing and sitting with exposure to production areas requiring use of safety equipment and exposure to cold, wet, damp, hot and noisy environments. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
