| 2 tablespoons | salted butter, softened |
| 1 tablespoon | Dijon mustard |
| 1 tablespoon | fig jam |
| 4 slices | sharp American cheese |

| 4 thin | apple slices |
| 1/2 cup | arugula |

Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Spread Dijon on the unbuttered side of two slices and fig jam on the other two slices.

Layer cheese, Canadian bacon, apple slices, and arugula over the Dijon side. Top with fig jam slices, butter side out.

Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, covering with a lid to help the cheese melt.

Remove from heat, cut in half, and serve warm.
