Jones Dairy Farm Named Jefferson County Business of the Year
For 137 years, Jones Dairy Farm has called Fort Atkinson, and Jefferson County, home. That’s why being named Jefferson County Business of the Year as part of the inaugural THRIVE Leaders & Legends Awards is an honor that feels especially meaningful.
Celebrating the Inaugural THRIVE Leaders & Legends Awards
The new awards program, presented by Thrive Economic Development in partnership with BizTimes Media, was created to recognize businesses and leaders who are helping Jefferson County grow, thrive, and shine across the state of Wisconsin. As the first year of the program, the recognition carries added significance, not just for the recipients, but for the community being celebrated.
A Recognition Rooted in Community
“Being honored in the first year of the THRIVE Leaders & Legends Awards is something we’re incredibly proud of,” said Philip Jones, Chairman and CEO of Jones Dairy Farm. “Our story is inseparable from Jefferson County. This recognition reflects the dedication of our employees, the support of our community, and the values that have guided our family for generations.”
Deep Roots in Fort Atkinson and Jefferson County
The Jones family’s connection to Fort Atkinson dates back to the late 1830s, even before Wisconsin achieved statehood. Jones Dairy Farm was officially founded in 1889, building on generations of agricultural tradition and a long-standing commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and family ownership. Today, the company remains firmly rooted in Fort Atkinson, continuing to operate on the same land along the Rock River settled by the Jones family more than 180 years ago.
A Longstanding Commitment to Giving Back
Community involvement has always been a core part of the Jones story. From early civic leadership to ongoing partnerships with schools, nonprofits, first responders, and local organizations, Jones Dairy Farm has long believed that strong businesses help build strong communities. That commitment continues today through ongoing investments that help make Jefferson County a great place to live and work.
Telling Jefferson County’s Story
One goal of the THRIVE Leaders & Legends Awards is to give Jefferson County a moment to “toot its own horn,” celebrating the people, businesses, and organizations that make the region special. By spotlighting local success stories, the program highlights Jefferson County’s pride, progress, and potential, helping share its impact well beyond the county’s borders.
Looking Ahead
Jones Dairy Farm will be formally recognized at the THRIVE Leaders & Legends Awards celebration on April 21, 2026, in Fort Atkinson. While the event marks an important milestone, the real honor lies in continuing to support the community that has supported Jones Dairy Farm for generations.
