Sausage and Cheddar Baked Right Into the Biscuit Dough
Breakfast Sausage and Cheese Biscuits fold chopped Jones Dairy Farm Golden Brown All Natural Maple Pork Sausage Links and shredded sharp cheddar directly into a from-scratch biscuit dough of flour, butter, and milk, so every bite has sausage and cheese built right in. Patted into a rectangle, cut into six squares, baked at 425°F until golden, and brushed with melted butter straight out of the oven — this sausage cheese biscuit recipe is the grab-and-go breakfast worth making a batch of every week.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 4 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 5 Jones Dairy Farm Golden Brown All Natural Maple Sausage Links, cooked and chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425˚F.
In bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in butter with fork or pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in cheese and chopped sausage. Pour in milk and stir just until it pulls away from sides of bowl.
Pour mixture onto work surface dusted with flour. Knead just until it comes together – dough will be sticky. Pat into a rectangle 10-1/2×7-inches. Cut into 6 squares. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Brush with melted butter.
