Hawaiian Pizza
The Hawaiian Pizza That Converts the Skeptics
This Hawaiian Pizza spreads tangy BBQ sauce over stretched pizza dough, then layers it with mozzarella, dollops of cream cheese, Jones Canadian Bacon, sweet pineapple, and jalapeño or green pepper. Baked on a pizza stone at 550°F until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling, then finished with a hot honey drizzle if you’re into it.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 ounce cream cheese, room temperature
- ½ cup sliced pineapple
- ¼ cup green bell pepper or sliced jalapeno
- 2 tbsp. freshly grated parmesan cheese
- hot honey for drizzling (optional)
Directions
Heat oven to 550°F or the highest your oven will go. Place a pizza stone in the oven to preheat.
Gently stretch pizza dough into a 14-inch circle or desired shape using your hands. Place on a pizza peel covered with flour or cornmeal to keep the dough from sticking. You can also build the pizza on parchment paper and transfer the whole thing directly to the pizza stone.
Spread the barbecue sauce over the pizza dough, leaving a ¼-inch border for the crust.
Sprinkle with 1 ½ cups of the mozzarella cheese. Dollop with teaspoons of the cream cheese. Scatter the Canadian bacon, pineapple and green pepper or jalapeno around the pizza. Cover with remaining mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with parmesan.
Shake the pizza peel a few times to loosen the pizza and make sure it will easily slide off on to the pizza stone. Carefully open the oven and slide the pizza on to the pizza stone. Again, you can also build on parchment paper and slide the pizza and parchment paper on to the pizza stone. Shut the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden. Check often.
Rest 2-3 minutes before slicing. If desired, drizzle with hot honey.
