Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Pizza
The White Pizza That Converts Red Sauce Loyalists
This Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Pizza skips the red sauce in favor of a garlicky olive oil base, then layers on browned Jones All Natural Pork Sausage Roll, sautéed broccoli rabe, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and shredded mozzarella. Finish with ricotta dollops straight out of the oven for a white pizza that tastes like something from a real Italian kitchen.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 3 garlic cloves, minced and divided
- 1 bunch broccoli rabe (or broccolini), trimmed
- 8 oz. Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Sausage Roll
- 1 homemade or store-bought pizza dough
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup jarred roasted red peppers, drained and sliced
- olive oil
- ricotta cheese (for topping)
- oregano, salt, and pepper (for seasoning)
Directions
Heat oven to highest temperature, around 525°F to 550°F.
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 clove minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, 1 minute. Add broccoli rabe and a splash of water. Cover and let steam until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
In same skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add mushrooms and sauté over medium heat until tender, 7-9 minutes. Set aside.
Add roll sausage to same skillet. Brown over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks.
Mix remaining olive oil with 3 cloves minced garlic. Using the back edge of your knife, work the garlic and oil together on a cutting board to form a paste.
Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Spread a thin layer of garlic paste over the dough, covering the entire surface. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese, sausage, broccoli rabe, mushrooms and sliced roasted red peppers. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Remove pizza from oven and dollop with ricotta cheese. Sprinkle with oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Slice the pizza and enjoy!
