White American cheese melts in gradually until smooth, then a full can of diced green chiles folds in for a mild, savory kick. This easy sausage queso recipe serves 8 in just 15 minutes and works for game day, parties, or any night chips and dip sounds better than cooking.
Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz.) Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Pork Sausage Roll, thawed
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole milk or half and half
- 1 can (4 ounces) diced green chilies, undrained
- salt and pepper, to taste
- chips or other dippable sides
- garnishes of choice (cilantro, tomato, jalapeño, etc.)
Directions
Brown sausage in a saucepan over medium-low heat; crumbling with a spoon until crispy and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Add the flour and stir. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Pour in the milk, stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and cook until thickened.
Gradually add cheese, stirring continuously until fully melted and the mixture becomes smooth.
Add diced green chilies and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Continue to heat on low, stirring regularly, until it reaches a creamy and desired consistency.
Once ready, transfer the queso to a serving bowl and serve warm with tortilla chips or your preferred dipping items!
