Simple Brown Sugar Glaze for Holiday Hams
Bring a touch of sweet and savory flavor to your holiday table with this Bourbon Brown Sugar Glaze. The rich caramel notes of brown sugar pair perfectly with a splash of bourbon or apple juice, tangy mustard, and a hint of cloves for a glaze that transforms any Jones Dairy Farm Ham into a show-stopping centerpiece.
Ingredients
- 1 Jones Dairy Farm Heritage Uncured Half Ham (about 1.5 lbs.)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon bourbon (substitute: apple juice)
- pinch of ground cloves
- whole cloves (optional)
Directions
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, bourbon (or apple juice), whole grain mustard, and a pinch of ground cloves.
Add more bourbon (or apple juice) as needed until you have a thick glaze.
Lightly score the fat on the ham and, if desired, stud with whole cloves.
Place ham in a baking dish, fat side up, and bake for 30 minutes at 325°F.
Brush glaze evenly over the ham and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 125°F.
Rest briefly before slicing and serving.
