Jalapeño Canadian Bacon Biscuits
Recipe by Isabel Eats.
Flaky, Cheesy, and Just the Right Amount of Spicy
Flaky, buttery biscuits packed with sharp cheddar, diced Jones Canadian Bacon, and fresh jalapeño — then brushed with melted butter and baked until golden. Savory, spicy, and impossible to eat just one.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup frozen butter, grated
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 6 oz. Jones Dairy Farm Canadian Bacon, diced
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Directions
Heat oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Add the butter and mix with a fork until evenly distributed.
Stir in cheese, Canadian bacon, and jalapeños until coated and evenly mixed.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Gradually mix it into the dry ingredients until a shaggy dough forms, first with a fork and then with your hands to bring the dough together.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a ¾ -1 inch thick circle. Use a 3-inch cutter to cut into 12 rounds. Re-roll the scraps, shape, and cut until all dough is used.
Transfer biscuits to the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
