Grilled White Pizza with Bacon and Basil
Recipe by Taste & Tell.
Five Ingredients. One Grill. The Best Pizza You’ve Had All Summer.
This Grilled White Pizza with Bacon and Basil grills pizza dough directly on the grates until the crust blisters and chars, then layers it with shredded mozzarella, dollops of ricotta, crispy Jones Dry Aged Bacon, and torn fresh basil. Six slices, 30 minutes, and a pizza that tastes like it came from a wood-fired oven.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces Jones Dairy Farm Dry Aged Bacon
- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- handful of fresh basil leaves, torn
Directions
Dice bacon into 1/4-inch pieces. Heat large skillet over medium-high heat; add bacon and cook until crisp. Drain on paper-towel lined plate.
Heat grill to medium heat. (With lid closed, temperature should be about 400˚F.) Grease grates well.
Spray piece of foil with nonstick cooking spray. Roll pizza dough out on top of foil. Use foil and carefully flip the dough over onto grill, removing foil. Close lid and grill until bottom of crust is browned and lightly charred, about 3-5 minutes. Using tongs or spatula, flip crust over. Drizzle olive oil over crust and layer mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, bacon and basil leaves. Close grill and continue to cook until cheese is melted, another 3-4 minutes.
Carefully remove from grill and let sit for a couple minutes before slicing and serving.
