Raw breakfast sausage is uncooked seasoned pork that you prepare at home before eating. It comes frozen to lock in freshness without the need for preservatives, and is cooked from scratch before serving. That gives you more control over texture, browning, and how it fits into a recipe — whether you’re making a breakfast scramble, holiday stuffing, or building a homemade sausage gravy.

Fully cooked sausage has already been cooked during manufacturing and simply needs to be heated through before serving. Raw sausage is fresh and uncooked, requiring full preparation at home. Raw sausage typically delivers a fresher flavor and more flexibility in cooking applications, while fully cooked sausage offers speed and convenience. Jones offers both so you can choose based on how you like to cook.

To cook Jones raw sausage patties, place them uncovered in a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes if thawed, or 10 to 12 minutes if frozen, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, turning occasionally until light golden brown. Drain cooked patties on a paper towel. Do not microwave.

To cook Jones raw sausage links, place them in a covered skillet over medium high heat with 3 tablespoons of water and cook for 4 minutes. Remove the cover and continue cooking for 6 to 8 minutes if thawed, or 8 to 10 minutes if frozen, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Turn frequently for even browning. Use thawed product within 2 days.
