Jones Receives Prestigious 2023 Wisconsin Business Achievement Award
Jones Dairy Farm is the proud recipient of the ninth annual Wisconsin Business Achievement Award presented by the Flowers Family Foundation.
The annual award recognizes recipients for their positive impact on the Wisconsin economy and may be granted to an individual, partnership, corporation, association, industry, and educational institution. Jones Dairy Farm was chosen by a selection panel consisting of former Governor Tommy Thompson, Tim Christen, the former Chairman and CEO and current Chairman Emeritus of Baker Tilly, and Allysia Finley, a Wall Street Journal Editor.
“As the latest Wisconsin Business Achievement Award winner, we’re proud to welcome Jones Dairy Farm to this select group of exemplary companies that have used their success to support the Wisconsin economy and their local communities,” said June Bunting, President, Flowers Family Foundation. “We believe that all of our past winners are special and true beneficiaries of the free enterprise system.”
The award also comes with a $75,000 donation for a Wisconsin-based charity of the winner’s choice. Jones Dairy Farm designated the award money to Feed Your Soul, a Fort Atkinson-based outreach program founded in 2008 that provides free, weekly meals to the Fort Atkinson community. Over the past 15 years, Feed Your Soul has served more than 80,000 meals at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Atkinson. Led by Jennifer and Rick Lowry, Feed Your Soul has plans to expand the program to Janesville in 2024, with construction of a commercial kitchen at Faith Community Church.
“The donation from the Flowers Family Foundation is a game-changer as we look to impact more people throughout the community,” said Rick Lowry, the immediate past president of Jones Dairy Farm. Said Jennifer Lowry, “We try and think of everything to make this an enjoyable and stress-free experience each week. The job of caring for those in need, whether it’s a physical hunger, loneliness, financial need, feeling part of a group and getting support from others, is everyone’s responsibility.”

The Flowers Family Foundation was created and funded by Rockne and JoAnne Flowers in 1998 with the focus on supporting charitable organizations and causes. Rock, JoAnne and the Flowers Family Foundation credit the free enterprise system for enabling America’s unparalleled prosperity and providing a ladder for entrepreneurs to climb from modest beginnings to achieve their goals. The Flowers Foundation gratefully gives back and encourages others to strive for their self-determined goals.
“We are inspired by Rock Flowers’ vision of sharing the benefits of the free enterprise system here in Wisconsin,” said Cole Jones, 6th generation Jones family member. “Over the past 185 years, seven generations of Jones family members have lived and worked in Fort Atkinson. We don’t plan for that to change. We are deeply committed to this community, with both capital investments in the business and philanthropic initiatives to improve the lives of area residents. It is a great honor to be recognized by the Flowers Family Foundation with the Wisconsin Business Achievement Award.”
Previous Wisconsin Business Achievement Award winners have included Boldt Company (2022), Sargento Foods (2021), Stoughton Trailers (2019), Kwik Trip (2018), The Fireside Theatre (2017), L.B. White Co. (2016), OEM Fabricators Inc. (2015) and Kapco Metal Stamping (2014). There was no recipient in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Said Jones Dairy Farm Chairman and CEO Philip Jones when accepting the award, “All those who’ve come before us to receive this honor were not about tooting their own horn but doing the right thing. So to have this opportunity to first be recognized, and then be able to pass along a very generous gift to Feed Your Soul, is just remarkable. We thank Rockne Flowers and the Flowers Family Foundation very much.”

How to Build Your Own Pizza Bar
Bored with the usual pizza delivery routine? Get ready to shake things up with a Jones Dairy Farm-centric make-your-own pizza bar, a fun and versatile option for pizza lovers of all ages. It’s perfect for parties, get-togethers, or a Friday movie night at home.
Building your own pizza bar is not only easy but provides the opportunity to make a limitless number of pizza creations. The premise is simple, the more pizza toppings you provide, the more variations you can make. Even picky eaters will be pleased! And creativity is not the only benefit. A pizza bar allows you to use leftovers or whatever you have on hand in the fridge or cupboard, address any dietary restrictions or food allergies, and finally end future disagreements about what kind of pizza to order.
For the meat lovers out there, let Jones Dairy Farm become your go-to source for delicious protein-based toppings with the likes of our all-natural breakfast sausage, naturally smoked Canadian bacon and ham, and crispy dry-aged bacon.
To help get you started, Jones Corporate Chef Kate Lulloff created an ingredient checklist to build your own pizza bar.
Choose your Crust (or no crust)
- Thin or thick crust pizza dough (homemade or store bought)
- Flatbread
- English muffins or bagels
- Meatza – smash ground beef as thin as possible to form a meat crust (Paleo friendly)
Let’s get saucy!
- Prepared marinara or pizza sauce
- BBQ sauce
- Olive oil and garlic
- Pesto
- Ranch dressing
- Alfredo sauce
Can’t forget the Cheese
- Mozzarella
- Cheddar
- Feta or Ricotta
- Parmesan
- Dairy free
Pack with Protein
- Jones Sausage Links/Patties
- Jones Roll Sausage (cook and crumble ahead of time)
- Jones Ham
- Jones Bacon
- Jones Canadian Bacon
- Chicken (shredded, diced)
- Ground beef
- Pepperoni
Finish with Fruits and Veggies
- Sliced Black or Green Olives
- Sliced Green Onions or Leeks
- Sliced Red Onions
- Sliced Mushrooms
- Chopped Green, Red, Yellow and Orange Bell Peppers
- Sliced Jalapeños or Banana Peppers
- Pineapple chunks or thinly sliced Apples
- Spinach or Arugula
- Broccoli
- Zucchini
- Sundried Tomatoes
Wait while you Bake and other tips from Chef Kate:
- Preheat your oven to the desired temperature before you start making the pizzas. Chef Kate recommends high heat (450°F) for crispier crust.
- Consider cooking the pizzas either individually or in groups of two depending on the size of the pizzas and the oven.
- Parchment on sheet pans is great for making pizzas, especially individual ones, if not using pizza pans.
- Think outside the box for the “sauce.” For example, butternut squash puree is another great one for fall (more below).
- Chef Kate also loves making pizza in cast iron skillets. Oil the skillet (or cook your sausage in it first, then remove from skillet), and press your dough into the skillet and up the sides. Layer with sauce and toppings, finish with cheese, and cook in a 450 °F. oven for about 20 minutes… crispy, chewy, deep dish pizza.

Pizza Bar Creations
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the toppings listed above, Chef Kate also shared some of her favorite pizza creations below:

What is Canadian Bacon?
Although a staple for many breakfast and brunch dishes like classic Eggs Benedict, Canadian bacon often remains in the shadow of its more renowned American bacon counterpart. However, at Jones Dairy Farm, Canadian bacon is a crown jewel that we take immense pride in — crafted with care in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. If you’ve ever wondered what exactly Canadian bacon is, let us help clarify any misunderstanding.
What is Canadian Bacon, and how is it different from ham?
The term “bacon” in its name might cause some confusion, but Canadian bacon is a departure from traditional bacon slices. It is sometimes referred to as back bacon. Unlike the conventional bacon derived from the pig’s fattier belly, Canadian bacon comes from the center of the pig’s back – the area housing the much leaner pork loin. Canadian bacon, which has an appearance and flavor more similar to ham, is typically cured then cooked during the smoking process. Canadian bacon comes from the back of the pig, the loin, which is very tender and lean. Ham comes from leg of the pig, which is less lean than the loin. Canadian bacon is often used for breakfasts, brunch, and lunch while ham is typically use for dinner meals.
What Makes Jones Superior?
There should be no surprise that Jones Canadian Bacon is crafted with care and quality. Jones Canadian Bacon is made from only the most tender and premium center portions of fresh, never-frozen loins. Just like our dry aged bacon, Jones Canadian Bacon is naturally smoked using real hickory or cherrywood chips, giving it a robust and deeply satisfying flavor.
Health-Conscious Choice
Fully cooked and certified gluten-free, our Canadian bacon seamlessly integrates into a wholesome diet, providing a flavorful alternative to traditional bacon that’s high in lean protein. In fact, a three-slice serving has only 60 calories but boasts an impressive 10 grams of protein while maintaining a 97% fat-free profile. Jones also offers All Natural Uncured Canadian Bacon, available in two package sizes (6 oz and 24 oz). It’s cherrywood smoked, made without sugar and features pork raised without antibiotics and vegetarian fed which means it’s made without the use of added nitrates or nitrites.

Many Ways to Enjoy Jones Canadian Bacon
Jones Canadian Bacon is fully cooked and can be enjoyed right out of the package, layered as a protein onto sandwiches or added as a versatile ingredient into countless recipes.
- Canadian Bacon and Egg Cups
- Classic Eggs Benedict with Canadian Bacon and Hollandaise Sauce
- Croque Madame with Canadian Bacon
- Canadian Bacon Broccoli Casserole
- Canadian Bacon, Spinach & Cheese Frittata

Guide To Jones Products at Costco Wholesale
As many Costco members around the country might already know, not every Costco Wholesale warehouse carries the same product mix. Therefore, a product you love at a Costco in New York might not be available at a Costco in Los Angeles. The reason is flexibility. Costco can cater to customers in a given geographical area by offering regional food favorites, seasonal items and products from locally based manufacturers.
That’s why we decided to post our guide to Jones products at Costco. Here is a list of different Costco regions across the country, and the Jones product(s) available in those regions.

Incidentally, if your local Costco Warehouse does not carry our sausage or Canadian bacon, please ask them to bring it in. This can be done by submitting requests via the feedback section on the Costco app or website as well as feedback boxes located at each store.

Finally, since it’s possible that not every Costco warehouse in each region will carry the same products, we recommend checking the Product Finder. For more information or if you have any questions, call our consumer hotline at 1-800-635-6637 to speak to a live customer service representative.

Jones Recognized as Workforce Inclusion Champion

Opportunities, Inc., a Fort-Atkinson, Wisconsin-based community rehabilitation program founded in 1966, is committed to ensuring community members with diverse abilities, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities, limited work experience, mental health, AODA issues, language challenges, economic disadvantages, employment dislocation, re-entry, and past military service, have a place to train, work and achieve independence. The organization recently bestowed Jones Dairy Farm with the Workforce Inclusion Champion Award for the employment of Thomas Atwater at the Jones Market.
According to Robin Kennedy, Vice President of Strategic Development for Opportunities, Inc., (pictured above, far right), “It’s been our privilege to formally recognize dozens of business partners across Southeastern Wisconsin for their efforts to employ and advance people with diverse abilities through this award program.”
Now let’s meet Thomas Atwater, and what makes him so special. It all started when Thomas worked a three-month stint at the Jones Market as a temporary helper in 2019. He enjoyed it so much that he returned to the Market when store hours normalized after Covid-19 in 2021. Today, as a Jones Market Assistant Helper, Thomas is an active team member who is always willing to lend a helping hand. Current responsibilities include delivering lunches to customers, dusting shelves, filling candy, placing stickers on products and bags, helping build gift boxes and really anything that needs attention.

Although Thomas only works four hours a week, he has made a huge impact at the store. For example, said Mariah Hadler, Company Store Sales & Marketing Manager, “Thomas offers outstanding customers service, lights up the room and makes everybody smile.” Added Leslie Willitz, Company Store Supervisor (pictured above with Thomas), “from his friendliness greeting customers to the way he helps with all the duties in the store, we really appreciate his effort every time he comes to work.”
According to Jeff Theder, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at Jones and an Opportunities, Inc. Board Member, “Providing an opportunity for a capable and affable young man like Thomas to work and learn skills, engage with our team members and customers, and gain a sense of independence and pride, is a win-win-win for all involved.”
